Reunion

Here we are at the high school reunion, I didn't know if you'd come.
Most of our friends left town that summer.
Never heard about what they'd become.
But here we are, back in the town we escaped such a long time ago.
Well, what do you know?
Let's find a seat and look through the yearbook,
And scrape the old rust off our dreams,
And not look too hard at those compromises
We made in the years in between.
And maybe tonight, if just for a moment, recapture the love we knew,
When love was still new,
At the high school reunion with you.

Waves on the Sand

I still can remember the night it began,
We gazed at the stars and you held my hand.
We kissed as the moonlight shone down on the sea,
And my foolish heart thought you might love me.
It seemed like forever, I loved you that much.
To lie there beside you, to feel your warm touch.
But somehow forever was not in your plans.
You slipped through my fingers, like waves on the sand.

(chorus) Waves on the sand that drift out to sea,
Waves on the sand, what you were to me.
I wanted forever, "cause that's who I am.
But you slipped through my fingers, like waves on the sand.

“I picked up the pieces of my broken heart,
And somehow I managed to make a new start.
It wasn't her nature to make lover's vows
But I can't help wonderin' what she's doing now.
Maybe she gave up her wandering ways.
With a husband and family, she's found better days.
It could have been our life, if I were her man,
But she slipped through my fingers, like waves on the sand.

(chorus)

Heavenly Blues

I was lying in the new mown grass, looking up at the sky.
I was studying the animal clouds as they cartwheeled by.
God was putting on a show just for me.
It was a cotton candy Noah's Ark menagerie
Felt like a kid out of school,
Lookin' up into the heavenly blue.

Well, sometimes you may feel like your life is nothin' but the blues.
You be thinkin' that old guy Job has nothing on you,
But the spirit's gonna lift you 'bove it all,
'Cause like the song says, "baby, the rain must fall"
But the rain can't hurt you
When you're living with the Heavenly Blues.

(bridge) Well I heard tell the blues ain't nothin' but a good man feelin' bad,
But the Heavenly Blues'll make a blind man see, Make a sinner walk righteous again.

God invited us all to a dance quite a long time ago,
And most of the time we're inclined just to step on God's toes.
But when we give the good Lord half a chance,
It's an act of Grace, it's a beautiful dance,
When you hear the Good News, when you're dancing to the Heavenly Blues.

(bridge) Now there's a band of angels playing sanctified harp in the sky, And the horn section's cranking out the rhythm and soul, And the Saints all love to harmonize.

So Lord I thank you for the promise of everlasting life in Jesus' name.
And I praise you for the beauty of creation...the sun, the moon, the rain.
'Cause you know when you're walkin' with the Lord,
You get a peace of mind you've never ever known before.
And your heart is renewed when you're singing out the Heavenly Blues.

Yes, you know it's Good News when you're living with the Heavenly Blues

Reason to Believe

MAYBE YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR WORLD IS OUT OF CONTROL.
OR MAYBE YOU FEEL LIKE THE LIFE YOU LEAD IS A BURDEN TOO BIG
FOR YOUR SOUL.
MAYBE YOU THINK YOU'VE FORGOTTEN WHAT HAPPINESS MEANS. BUT GOD KNOWS EVERY BEAT OF YOUR HEART.
CALL ON HIM AND YOU WILL RECEIVE...

(CHORUS) A REASON TO BELIEVE, REASON TO BELIEVE,
LIKE PEACE AND HARMONY, JESUS IN YOU AND ME.

MAYBE YOU'RE THE PRODIGAL SON - A LONG WAY FROM HOME.
OR MAYBE YOU'RE LIKE THE RICH YOUNG MAN WHO DIDN'T WANT TO
PART WITH IS GOLD. MAYBE YOU'RE THE WOMAN STONED BY THE PHARISEES. THEY ALL FELT SOMETHING EMPTY INSIDE THAT ONLY JESUS CHRIST CAN COMPLETE...

(CHORUS)

(BRIDGE) MAYBE YOUR LIFE AIN'T ALL THAT YOU THOUGHT IT WOULD BE... . GIVE GOD A CHANCE TO TURN IT AROUND, 'CAUSE YOU STILL CAN BELIEVE, YOU CAN STILL BE REDEEMED...

(CHORUS)

SO HERE IS THE BREAD THAT HE OFFERS: HIS BODY FOR YOU.
AND HERE IS THE CUP OF SACRIFICE; DRINK OF IT AND BE RENEWED.
FUNNY HOW HEAVEN GETS CLOSER WHEN YOU'RE DOWN ON YOUR
KNEES. YOU CAN HIDE IN THE DARKNESS OR LIVE IN THE LIGHT.
WHERE YOU GONNA SPEND ETERNITY?

(CHORUS)

Road to Calvary

Came in off the road. Through the gates he rode a foal.
Heard the people shout and sing, cry "Hosanna to the King!"
But people change.
Found a place to eat. Like a servant, he washed our feet.
Then he took the bread and cup, said "My Body and My Blood."
And I tried to believe him, but I didn't understand what he came to be,
On the road to Calvary, (the man from Galilee)

Went outside to pray, and he asked us all to stay,
But we nodded off to sleep. "Spirit's willing, flesh is weak," I heard him say.
Then the soldiers came. Planned to carry him away.
And I rose to save my Lord. He said "Put away your sword.
I have called you to peace and you strike out in anger. Is that what you learned from me on the road to Calvary?"

(BRIDGE) So they seized him, took him off to be judged,
And they asked him, "Do you claim you're from God?
Where's your Kingdom?"
"You ask for earthly proof, I only speak the truth.
My kingdom is yet to be..."

They stole the clothes he wore. On his head, a crown of thorns
Forced upon his fevered brow.
" Where's your God to save you now?" they mocked in scorn.
Dragged him through the streets, and they nailed his hands and feet
To a cross they lifted high, silouette against the sky.
He said "Father forgive them. Now it is finished,"
Just as he prophesied on the road to Calvary.

They took him, lifeless, down. And they laid him in the ground
In a tomb of solid rock. Fallen shepherd, scattered flock... or so it seemed.
But as we heard him say, he arose on the third day.
He appeared to us once more, Son of God whom we adore.
And he said "Spread the Good News! God's grace has redeemed you."
I've seen him and I believe....in the cross of Calvary.
Son of God who died for me. On the cross of Calvary
Paid the price and set me free. On the cross of Calvary.

Faith, Hope and Love

Faith is the evidence of things unseen,
Believing in the promise of what is yet to be.
With faith, we see with more than just our eyes.
See a world we never could see otherwise.
The handiwork of God, it's there to recognize through Faith.

(Chorus) Faith, Hope and Love,
They are gifts of the Spirit, flowing down from above.
Faith can move mountains and hope gives us heart,
But the greatest of these is love.
The greatest of these, the greatest of these is love.

Now hope is born of patience and quiet reckoning,
Believing while we're hurting, God will ease our suffering.
And when we struggle with the load we have to bear,
The bitter tears of broken dreams we can't repair,
God will not disappoint us, as we lift up our hearts in prayer with Hope.

(Chorus)

Now love endures through all things, I has no use for pride or greed.
Without it we have nothing; with it we have all we need.
I might speak with tongues of Angels, have the gift of prophesy,
Hold the wisdom of the ages, understand all mysteries,
But without love I am nothing, for the greatest of these is love.

(Chorus)

Fishing Song

Andrew was a fisherman, drew his living from the sea,
He and brother Simon fished the shores of Galilee.
They worked and sweat and cursed the nets and prayed to God to let them be, and they said,
Maybe things will be better in the morning.
Maybe things will be just like they should.
I wish they would.  And as the sun would set,
They'd row their boat ashore and then hang up their nets,
And then they slept.

One day they were fishing, the sun still on the rise.
Andrew saw a man on shore,
Then the man caught Simons's eye.
Simon cried, "Who are you, man?"
The figure said in reply,
"Come to me you weak and heavy-laden.
I will bring your heartache to an end.  I'll be your friend."
And then he said to them "Fish are only fish,
Don't cast your net again.  Fish for men."

The two men followed Jesus down the shore of Galilee.
They soon met James and John, sons of Zebedee.
Jesus called for fisherman; the two men swam to join the three.  And they sang:
"Come to him you weak and heavy-laden. The Master
Brings your heartache to an end. He'll be your friend."
Again, he said to them, "Fish are only fish,
Don't cast your net again.  Fish for men."

Andrew was a fisherman, but surely so are we.
Each one has a net to cast, each a Galilee.
Jesus still needs fisherman, won't you come
and sing with me?
Come to him you weak and heavy-laden. Jesus
Brings your heartache to an end. He is your friend."
He still needs fisherman. Fish are only fish,
Don't cast your net again.  Fish for men.

He Is the Light

(chorus) He is the Light, He is the way, He is the hope,
the hope of a brighter day. He is there for the asking, just open the door. He is love everlasting, He is peace evermore.

I met a man walking the road.
He stopped for a while to help me carry my load.
I cried out in bitter anguish for something to ease my mind.
He said "Love one another and to all be kind."

(chorus)

He lifted his eyes toward heaven and started to pray,
And he thanked the Lord for saving a soul who had gone astray. He gave his love for guidance to you and to me,
But we rarely ever listen.  We still nail him to the tree.

(chorus)

I never asked his name, there was no need.
Love was the sower, his word was the seed.
And now my heart rejoices with all it can give
For Jesus is the answer, and love is how you live.

(chorus)
