Crossfire

Well I hear people talking,
I can't believe the things that they say.
They just assume I see things their way.
Well that's okay.
And I hear people laughing,
And I suppose they're laughing at me.
Just a foolish fool to believe the things I believe.

(chorus)
Well I believe that I'm caught in a crossfire
Living out your desire.
Listen to reason. Living in this world.
Wondering what will be revealed to me.

How can they stand in judgement,
Lord it over folks they don't know,
As if their arrogance makes it so?
I just don't know.
How can they claim to serve you,
When all they do is just serve themselves
At the cost of somebody else.
It poisons the well.

(chorus)

(bridge)
Building walls instead of bridges,
Building empires tall and proud,
But underneath the mortar's cracking,
Foundations shift and they fall to the ground.

I don't have all the answers,
But I don't trust those who say that they do.
They tell you they know what's best for you,
But that's not true.
'Cause there's no lock on justice,
and how can mercy ever be wrong?
The force of will might make you seem strong,
But not for long.

(chorus)

From Where I Stand

Dreamless sleep, sleepless nights, nightime skies, sky so bright.
Bright enough to burns your eyes, blind before you realize,
Ah, but the illusion's grand, That's how it looks from where I stand.

(chorus) Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand.

Hopeless cause, causing pain, painful memories, but memories fade.
Fade like echoes down the hall, bouncing off the canyon wall,
Shifting ground like sinking sand, That's how it looks from where I stand.

(chorus) Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand.

Towers in ashes, ashen streets, start a new life, like life's that cheap.
Hanging chads without a plan, Start a war on No Man's Land,
Make sure that the flame is fanned, That's how it looks from where I stand.

(chorus) Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand.

Call down rain, rainbow wings, Wingless angels, ageless thing.
Leave your earth self on the ground, pushing off without a sound,
Be the sky, I know you can, that's my prayer from where I stand.

(chorus) Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand.

(bridge)

Will there come a time when all the soldiers lay their weapons down?
And will there come a day when our labor -- the sweat of our brow --
Doesn't leave us weakened, doesn't put us early in the ground?

Losing heart, heartless beast, beat back darkness, find release.
Find it in your grandchild's face, find it in your love's embrace,
Find redemption where you can, Doesn't matter where you stand.

(chorus) Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand, Where I stand.

See Your Will

Here I am Lord, knocking at your front door,
and hoping that you will let me in.
'Cause like that kid's song, I am weak but you are strong.
And today is a good day to begin (to begin again).
Please forgive me. Open my eyes, let me see.

(chorus)
In a world of hate, teach me how to love,
In the wreck and ruin, in the push and shove.
Help me see your will Lord, that is enough.

Life is a mystery, a crazy quilt of myth and history,
And you can get lost along the way.
But thanks be to Jesus,
Who takes us by the hand and leads us
Back when like sheep we go astray.
Through your grace you
Raise me up; I praise you.

(chorus)

Here is the place we find comfort and sanctuary.
Brothers and sisters when we meet.
But it's not enough to stay here where it's safe
We've got to take the Good News into the street.
It's your choice now. Won't you lift your voice now?

(chorus)
